In honor of Black History Month, on March 8th, 2022 at 7:00 pm Garden City Community College will welcome Kevin Richardson to speak for GC3 employees, students, and community. This speech will take place in the Dennis Perryman Athletic Complex. Masks are required. 

Kevin Richardson was a member of the Central Park 5, and was wrongly accused of a crime he didn’t commit. After spending 7 years in prison, he now dedicates his life to being an advocate for criminal justice reform. His speech entitled “When They See Us; The Story of the Central Park 5,” which tells his story. 

Student Activities will have a viewing of the movie, “When They See Us,” which can also be seen on Netflix. The film is based off of Kevin Richardson and the other four men who were wrongly convicted. This viewing will take place on February 20th, 2022 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Dennis Perryman Athletic Complex back gym. Refreshments and snacks will be provided.
