In the early days of last week, Millie Bobby Brown announced her engagement to her boyfriend of two-and-a-half years, Jake Bongiovi. The nineteen year old actress, who is most famously known for her role on “Stranger Things,” let the announcement reach the public through her Instagram which sparked a lot of reactions from fans on different social media platforms.

Tiktok had teenage girls posting about Millie Bobby Brown getting engaged at nineteen as proof that good relationships do exist.

Even from a personal standpoint, I love that she had a secure and good enough relationship where she could say yes to continuing her future with her new fiance. I also think there is a weird stigma between engagement, marriage, and younger people. Which is odd because a lot of people back in the day got married super young and if people are meant for each other then why does it matter if they are younger than what the societal standard is for getting married?

The two stars have been dating for over two years and started appearing on social media together starting in June of 2021. Then, in July of 2022 they vacationed together in Italy for a getaway along with their families. In my opinion, the inclusion of the families means they were pretty serious.

Other fans who were not as supportive claimed the whole thing as a mistake and being extremely rude to the couple. One comment that stuck out to me was the comparison of a child marriage and that she is way too young to be a bride. Even though I am not a hardcore fan of the star, I do think she deserves all the love and support as she enters this new chapter of her life because if she is excited, it is almost necessary that others support her as well.

The next questions I have are how long is her engagement going to be and will this journey be public? Celebrity relationships that are in the public eye can suffer tremendously, but they have prospered. And is she willing to share such a precious time in her life with the chance of receiving hate? Whatever she decides, again we all need to support her and her relationship because she does not need to worry or have any extra stress for what is supposed to be an enjoyable time.
