There is no better way to welcome the fall season than Garden City’s annual Fall Fest.
Vendors, business owners and talented craftsmen collaboratively invited the population of Garden City downtown to spend their Saturday at Stevens Park and Main Street.
Whether it was in the early morning or late afternoon, one could find themselves enjoying food, playing games and purchasing all sorts of knick-knacks. The small town came together to entertain families by trying something new.
This occasion allowed several organizations to take advantage of the publicity to highlight their services and skills. Garden City High School’s very own art club organized by art teacher Kaitlin Hahn did not second guess orchestrating a face painting booth. Fall Fest is one of many events that allows art club members to showcase their talents amongst the younger crowds.
“I came at 2 pm and many children were lined up to get their faces painted,” Yaraizel Bello, GC3 Media staff member, said.
Other than showing off artistic talents, citizens were given the chance to whip out their prized possessions, in other words, their vehicles. Restored antique cars got uncovered and pulled out of storage last Saturday to be flaunted. Freshly washed and waxed sports cars were displayed to the car gurus of Garden City.
If you’re more into the savory part of festivals do not worry, Fall Fest brought out stove, oven and grill talents. Amazing local chefs and bakers sold countless dishes through food trucks and food stands. Many foodies could not pass up the chance to stuff their bellies, hence the long lines in front of the counter.
It is clear that this year’s Fall Fest did not disappoint the crowd that attended. In case you missed out on all the fun this past weekend, look forward to it in the future years because Fall Fest is a local celebration that will never go away.
