Are you someone who loves to binge watch shows? Well, I might have found the perfect drama filled series for you! The spunky, spicy, and suspenseful show, “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” was recently released on September 6, through the streaming platform Hulu.
The hit series displays the lives of eight Pravo, Utah mothers and wives; who are still active members in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The moms originally became friends through the social media platform, TikTok, where they made videos together, and eventually launched their brand, ‘Mom Tok.’
Throughout the episodes, the audience gets to watch these women tackle their marriages, friendships, and media rumors. These experiences bring out the true colors of individuals, which put relationships on the line.
Within these eight women, there is a clear divide causing two groups, the “saints” and the “sinners.” The saints consist of 31-year-old Whitney Leavitt, 29-year-old Mayci Neely, 24-year-old Mikayla Matthews, and 25-year-old Jen Afleck. This group exemplifies people who are still active members in the church and still follow the rules for Mormon women for the most part.
For the duration of the show, it is made clear that the group of the saints, is led by Whitney Leavitt, who perceives herself as a very classy and highly looked upon Mormon and person in general. Now let us get into the group who are fewer active members of the church and are seen as more controversial, also known as the “sinners.”
Starting off with 30-year-old Taylor Frankie Paul, the founder of ‘Mom Tok.’ In addition to Taylor there is also 30-year-old Demi Engemann, 23-year-old Layla Taylor, and 32-year-old Jessi Ngatikara, which concludes this group. Just like in the saints’ category, there is also a leader in the sinners; that being Taylor Frankie Paul.
This divide in the women causes several forms of conflict leaving the girls and audiences to either be Team Whitney or Team Taylor. Whose team will you be?
