As some of you may not know, an incident happened recently at Garden City’s newly added restaurant “Walk-On’s”. A couple of very brave young individuals swiftly left the restaurant without paying. Not only is dining and dashing theft, but it is also morally incorrect. In case you did not already know, eating without paying could be considered a misdemeanor in the state of Kansas.
I cannot imagine the devastation on any waiter or waitress’s face when they find an unpaid bill with no customers left at the table. Soon after noticing the unpaid bill management took typical action for negative occasions like this. In this situation, the eatery did not hesitate to seek help from local law enforcement. Nowadays, it is common to upload videos, pictures, and general information online.
Walk-On’s Sports Bistreaux (Garden City) announced the situation on Facebook for many users to share. I saw the Facebook post Sunday evening while scrolling on my phone and to say the least, I got a nice laugh out of the comments. By a nice laugh I mean I was gasping for air for probably twenty minutes before I could recuperate then shortly break out into laughter again.
By no means is targeting delinquents in post comments going to reverse the issues caused. Although the post’s humor brought recognition to raise awareness and mindfulness of restaurant owners and hungry citizens of Garden City.
With the help of social media and much more, the individuals were identified and repaid a visit to Walk-On’s. According to an update on the Facebook post, the free spirits paid their dues and much more by leaving a tip, as one should.
The moral of the story is, please do not walk out on Walk-Ons… Unless you want to be completely flamed in Facebook post comments. Without a doubt just please pay your tab out, need I say more?
