We all know that music is seasonal. If you’re like me and revamp your Spotify account weekly, I am hoping you understand that sentiment. Summertime is for blaring all the nostalgic and upbeat songs that get us going. Progressing through the year when the air gets crisp and excitement starts to settle, that is when we can kick back, put our feet up and relax to all of the slower sounds. As the cold weather approaches, I have an anchoring feeling to put both of my headphones in and jam out to music that resonates with my interpretation of the weather. Without further or do I will present My Top 10 Frosty Morning Melodies.
1. Iris- The Goo Goo Dolls
This theme of this song is love, which fits all the feelings fall is famous for. For the first time listeners, I warn you to have a box of tissues on hand.
2. For Emma-Bon Iver
More specifically the Myspace version. Justin Vernon is the sum of all cold weather emotions. I think his voice perfectly represents the purpose behind every lyric written.
3.Green Eyes- Coldplay
If you have ever been told “just wait, it gets better,” that’s how I feel about this song. I feel so much secondhand yearning after the first sixty seconds of listening.
4.Dead Sea- The Lumineers
If you have ever heard of The Lumineers you know that Wesley Schultz and Jeremiah Fraites are very metaphorical. At first glance this title does not seem positive, but I assure you that this song is very uplifting and touching.
5.Lover, You Should’ve Come Over- Jeff Buckley
I think this song will forever be a fall season staple regardless of my emotional state.
6.Strawberry Wine- Noah Kahan
Noah Kahan produces music that never fails to be relatable. If you deeply desire what you picture as love, then I highly recommend this song.
7.Motion Sickness- Phoebe Bridgers
If you think this song is overplayed, I simply do not want to hear it. Just imagine strutting to class to the beat of this song and think again.
8.‘tis the damn season- Taylor Swift
As we are nearing the end of the year reunions are inevitable. Now that we are in college, we are prone to remembering what once was.
9.Silver Springs- Fleetwood Mac
In times of anger, I think everyone should sit with this song. Especially the version of this song Fleetwood Mac performed at the Warner Brothers Studio in Burbank, California in 1997.
10.Rewind- Stereophonics
I’ve decided to conclude this list with a song that incapsulates retrospect. I discovered this song in the show Friday Night Lights which is about football. What better represents fall than football?
If by any chance you have never heard any of these songs before, do yourself a favor and give them a try. If you’re like me then you will 100% understand why these songs are blaring through my speakers at full volume.
