Tensions were high on the 5th of November, as people lined up at the polls, casting their ballots until around two in the morning it was done, and former president Donald J Trump won the Presidential election for the second time. Online and in person it was hard to not see various people with their “I Voted” stickers on their person. Throughout the day eyes were on several different news and social media sites waiting for new updates on which states were done counting votes, who was in the lead, and by how much. This was especially true for the swing states whose votes had not yet been counted. Early in the race, Trump had already taken a lead from Kamala Harris. Across the internet on social media, many people debated whether this was what they claimed was ‘the red scare’ since many votes had not yet been counted in other states. However, this proved to not be the case as several more states were colored red, including here in Kansas where Trump won with over 57% of votes. The race ultimately ended around two in the morning on November 6th when he had passed over two hundred seventy points in the election. Trump not only won the electoral college votes with three hundred twelve points but also won the popular vote with 50% of the votes.

Gerardo Serrano, Staff
Hi, I’m Gerardo Serrano, and I am a first-year communications major at GCCC. I was part of my high school’s newspaper, the Sugar Beet, for three years being mainly a writer, then the feature editor for my senior year. I’m kind of a chronic shopaholic and hoarder of unnecessary little items and photos. Whenever I’m not working at Sams on the weekends or attending class, I’m pretty much just busy not having a personality. Instead, I’ve kind of just devoted my life to loving my three dogs, Maxi, Oso, and Shaggy. As well as consuming media and general pop culture, specifically television and movies. I’m really interested in furthering my experience in writing and being a part of the GC3 media program.
