Top 5 Finals Studying Tips
Finals week is just around the corner and that calls for a lot of studying and dedication to finish out the semester. I am here to give you my top five studying tips for finals week. These tips and tricks should ensure that you ace your exams and finals with no problem!
1.Avoid Procrastination
We are all guilty of waiting until the night of to do an assignment, but this can sometimes come back to bite us in the butt. You should start planning for your final as soon as it is given by the professor. The best thing to do is study little sections of the material every week, that way you have a good idea about what the final will be like and material will be fresh in your brain.
2.Get sleep!
Being a college student means staying up late almost every night. This is not a good thing to do with finals week coming up. The lack of sleep causes the material that you have studied to be forgotten and it can lead to anxiety. Going to bed at a reasonable time to get 7-8 hours of sleep is the best thing for pre-finals prep.
3.Find a Good Study Environment
Having a place that suits your needs when it comes to studying is key! Lying in bed while studying is not always the best idea. Your bed is used for sleeping, so studying in bed can cause distractions or even mess with your sleep patterns. Instead, you should find a clean area like a desk or table with a comfortable chair and all of your studying essentials.
4.Get Rid of Distractions
Having access to electronic devices like your cell phone or tablet is very likely to be a distraction while studying. Turning these devices off or putting them on do not disturb mode and leaving them is a distant spot is the way to go, that way you are not tempted to grab them and scroll for hours.
5.Use Different Study Techniques
Relying on just one method of studying may become repetitive and your brain may become used to that one way of studying. Trying different types of studying techniques can teach your brain how to remember things in different ways. Some methods include using flashcards, writing the question and answer, reading the question and answer and using a friend to quiz each other.
Now that you have an idea of the best tips for studying, I encourage you to try these out!
