It has been about two weeks since the Pennsylvanian icon, Punxsutawney Phil awoke on Groundhog Day, rose out of his cavern, and saw his dreaded shadow predicting our few remaining days of Winter. For years on Groundhog Day Phil has been tasked to predict whether we will receive an additional six weeks of winter in the year by seeing his shadow.
As we have seen these past weeks, the current weather climate is no joke. Just in case for the future we need to be prepared to keep ourselves from going crazy during these freezing and trying times. So, just in case you want to prepare for the potential following days ahead or just keep it in the back of your mind, here are a couple of things you can do on a snowy day.
One of the easiest things to do on a freezing day is to make it a movie night. Cozy up on your couch bundled up in blanket after blanket and go ahead and turn on that TV. It doesn’t matter whether it is a movie you have seen or one that you love to rewatch repeatedly, a movie night allows for a classic and comfortable experience that will have you lose track of time.
Better yet, use this time to finally get into those hobbies that you have constantly been making excuses for. Finally pick up that book you’ve had in your bag for weeks and finally get through scrolling through the endless words on that page.
Another fun activity to spend indoors on your snow day is to treat yourself and turn your snow day into a spa day. Go ahead and light some candles, put a face mask on, kick back and relax. You can go ahead and paint your nails in all kinds of fun colors, and if you can take a relaxing bath as well.
If you do not want to spend your whole day inside, however, there are plenty of activities to do outdoors too as long as you are careful. Depending on the amount of snow there is outside you can very well build yourself a snowman and accessorize it to your heart’s desire or be different and make different designs in the snow such as snow angels.
If you have enough people trapped alongside you in the snow who are not afraid of getting frostbite you can also organize a snowball fight and battle it out in your front yard.
Do not let a snow day limit you into thinking you are trapped indoors all day. Winter and its cold snowy days are not going away and neither should your ability for joy and entertainment.
