Last Friday from 10 am-12 am, Garden City Community College invited all students to attend a Healthcare Career Fair. The fair brought several services and institutions into the Dennis Perryman Athletic Complex’s back gym. The career fair was designed not only to promote the various programs and institutions in the Garden City and the larger Kansas area but also to provide various future possibilities for students to look upon and consider for their futures.
GCCC, Kansas Wesleyan, Newman University, and even Wichita State University provided students healthcare-centered information throughout the morning.
In addition to those institutions, many healthcare services like Compass, Common Spirit, Citizens Health and DaVita attended to enlighten the GCCC community.
“DaVita Dialysis provides services to the community in Garden City and surrounding areas. We do in-center hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis and home hemodialysis. We like to attend community events and collaborate with other entities… We plan on doing other events in the community this year such as The Boo in the Zoo and some of the local parades,” DaVita Dialysis employee said.
Clinical staff from neighboring areas such as Santana, Meade, Scott City, Seward County were also present at the Healthcare Career Fair.
“We are so excited to be here, we get a lot of student RN’s and CNA’s… It is just great to be able to have a close relationship with Garden City Community College. Our hospital offers so much… our little community offers a lot and we have a lot of great things that come from Garden City Community College, so we appreciate being able to come out,” Wichita County Health Center Human Resource Manager, Sheri Loy, said.
The variety of attendees that came together to make the Healthcare Career Fair possible, insighted countless future healthcare seeking professionals here in Garden City, Kansas.
