This past weekend, on September 13th, 2025, the 99th annual Mexican Parade and fiesta took place. The parade began at 10 a.m. on Main Street, where many companies and local businesses showcased themselves with signs. For the children, parade members handed out various types of candy as a treat.
After the parade, people gathered at Steven Park, where a variety of vendors were set up, offering Mexican food, drinks, hats, make-up, jewelry and more. There were also booths promoting businesses and sharing information about the community.
Later, a speaker opened the program with the Mexican National Anthem, followed by a talk about Mexican independence and the importance of community.
“Back in the 19 hundreds, from the people that were here was very hard for them to celebrate who they were back then, and that’s why they brought the Mexican fiesta so they can let people know we have a beautiful heritage, beautiful culture what we have because this is home now we don’t want to forget were we come from,” Angelica Castillo Chapple said.
Following Chappel’s speech the Mexican Fiesta queen was announced.
The celebration continued with live entertainment, including singers, bands, mariachis and traditional Mexican dancing, further showcasing the richness of Mexican culture. Community members came together to celebrate with pride.
Altogether, this cultural event highlighted Mexican heritage with traditional dances, horses and a car show. Families and friends came together this past Saturday to make memories, share moments and enjoy plenty of food. Next year will mark the 100th annual Mexican Parade & Fiesta which will go down in Garden City history to highlight the importance of cultural diversity in this small community.
