On Friday, Jan. 17, 2020, Garden City Community College will host Bob Hopkins to promote his new book and share his discoveries about the gifts of giving back. Hopkins graduated from Garden City High School in 1961 and recently published “Philanthropy Misunderstood: One Hundred Plus Stories From People Who Helped Change the World.”  Hopkins, a professor of business communications at the University of Texas at Arlington, said the 256-page book is based on his conversations with more than 100 people he has met over the course of his personal and professional life from all over the globe. Hopkins is planning to donate a portion of its proceeds to establish a scholarship for Garden City High School. Gigot said the scholarship is being established to honor the late Dean Nolte, a former USD teacher 457 and principal. The book signing on Friday begins at 4 p.m in the Endowment room in the Beth Tedrow Student Center and is free and open to the public. A reception will follow.
