On Thursday, April 28th, the Student Government hosted their annual, End of the Year Bash. This allowed students to interact and come together to celebrate the ending of the semester. At the event, there was a competition relay that was composed of cup flipping, a three-leg race, basketball, and duck shooting. Teams were required to have at least 4 participants and many clubs such as SGA, HALO, GC3 Media, SSS, participated. The winners of the competition were the reigning champions of last year’s competition, SSS. The admin took second place and GC3 media took third place. SSS ended up having the fastest time; they were awarded the traveling trophy that will be competed for again, at the next End of the Year Bash. Other activities that students got to see at the event included bouncy houses, water balloon fights, a slip-n-slide, and a drunk driving simulation/ car accident simulation provided by the Criminal Justice Program.

Sophomore Debonaire Williams was in attendance and said that he was glad that this was something that him and his peers could do before they all go their separate ways.

“This was very exciting and much needed; I had a fun time! I personally felt like this was a great idea to do at the end of the year, because we all got to be together. I liked the competitive side of doing the relay along with getting to do it with my friends. My favorite part was the bouncy house obstacle course. I felt like nothing was missing and many people valued this event. The only thing I would change is the fact that not everyone went or was unaware of the events taking place,” Williams explained.

Elizabeth Murrell has been the SGA President for the last two semesters and has helped put on many of the events that have taken place over the course of this past year.

“SGA has tried to encourage more student participation on campus for events. Our Welcome Back Picnic went very well, and we were lucky enough to have the same turnout at End of the Year Bash.” Elizabeth Murrell, SGA President.

Students can expect another End of the Year Bash to take place at the end of the 2022-2023 school year with different activities and competitions. The traveling trophy will be up for grabs and ready for a new winner.
