The National Football League (NFL) playoffs are up and at ‘em this year! January and February are very exciting months for football fans, and so far, it has been one crazy playoff series. Starting with the Divisional Round that just finished up this past Sunday. The local fans loved the outcome of the Kansas City Chiefs defeating Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars 27-20. Mahomes threw for 195 years with 2 touchdowns. However, he suffered an ankle injury in the first half of the game, but after his x-rays came back negative, he begged coach Andy Reid to keep him in the game. This helped KC secure their win and move on to the Championship round.

As the New York Giants tried to take down the powerhouse Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles now hold a record standing at 14-3 after blowing out the Giants with a score of 38-7. Jalen Hurts threw for only 154 yards but accounted for 2 touchdowns. The main yards came from running backs Miles Sanders and Kenneth Gainwell with both at 90+ yards. Daniel Jones once again had another underperformance with only 135 yards and no touchdowns. Their one touchdown came from running back Matt Breida. The Eagles will move on to the Championship round to play for a chance at the Super Bowl.

Back in the AFC, the Cincinnati Bengals took down the Buffalo Bills with a score of 27-10. With the loss, Josh Allen had an underperformance while also throwing for 264 yards with 1 rushing touchdown. But that was not the case for the Bengals. With Joe Burrow throwing dimes for 242 yards with 2 touchdowns and Joe Mixon rushing with 20 carries for 105 yards and 1 touchdown, the Bengals ran over the Bills in the divisional round earning their way to play the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship round.

In the NFC, the San Francisco 49ers beat my hometown Dallas Cowboys. I was very sad to watch what was not a good game, but watch the Cowboys slowly diminish (as they always do in the playoffs). The score ended at 19-12, not the typical store. Dak Prescott threw for 206 yards and 1 TD but had 2 interceptions. The rushing game for Dallas was non-existent, however, CeeDee Lamb caught 10 receptions for 117 yards. Brock Purdy stepped up as the quarterback for the Niners, but only threw for 214 yards and no touchdowns. However, the combination of the rushing game, receiving from tight end George Kittle, and the foot of Robbie Gould booked them to the championship round. Gould’s kicking was perfect, going 4/4 with one extra point, kicking for a total of 13 points. Without his foot, the Niners would see themselves back in California. They will go on to play the Eagles in the NFC Championship round.

My take as a Texas boy and a sad Cowboys fan… the Kansas City Chiefs will win Super Bowl 56. The Philadelphia Eagles will defeat the 49ers by 2 or more touchdowns, moving on to the Super Bowl. Jalen Hurts and AJ Brown will put on a show, but it won’t be enough to stop the Chiefs. The mighty Joe Burrow will also have a good performance beside Joe Mixon, but the Kansas City Chiefs will not be able to be stopped. Mahomes’ ankle injury was minor, so I’m sure he will take care of it and strengthen it for the next round. The Chiefs are just the highest IQ and most explosive team. Patrick Mahomes is arguably one of the most talented quarterbacks of all time already, and another Super Bowl will make him one of the best. However, this a just my opinion piece! I’m excited to hear what y’all think will happen and to see how it will go! Drop your score and play predictions below, have a blast watching!
