Have you ever heard of the reality tv show called Duck Dynasty? Phil Robertson, the star of the show is highlighted in the recent movie The Blind that was released in theaters September 28th, 2023. Phil Robertson was an ordinary man long before the show and fell in love with a woman he called Miss Kay in high school. Phil was advanced in football and had great opportunities but quit to support his soon to be little family. Throughout Phils struggles to find employment to support his family, Phil obtained great demons. The movie portrayed his struggles along with his fight for freedom very well, and the movie tells his story a long with motivation for others struggling with alcoholism.
Back to his roots, Phil and his siblings had a rough childhood with a sick mom and absent father. They grew up wanting a better life, and Phil created a better life for himself. Throughout the movie, it shows Phil trying to fight for freedom but alcohol keeps winning every single time. This movie is a tear jerker and one of the best movies I have seen in a while. It is real and you can feel the exact emotion that was felt in each scene. It was filmed incredibly and it was the perfect way to tell Phil Robertson’s story. People have watched Duck Dynasty and know that they are family oriented and love the hunt, but The Blind is the explanation as to how they came to be.
What never changed about Phil Robertson throughout his life is he sure loved to duck hunt. In the movie, there is a scene where Phil grabs one of his child’s whistle toys and creates a duck call out of it. Today, Phil Robertson has a multimillion dollar company called Duck Commander that he runs with his family. As someone who used to watch Duck Dynasty when they were little, I didn’t remember much. It was like a premiere to Duck Dynasty years later and it caused me to want to watch Duck Dynasty over again. It was cool to see how a little experiment like that created them a multimillion dollar company that people use today.
The Robertson family ends every episode of Duck Dynasty in prayer at the dinner table. In the movie they ended in the same place. But it was just the beginning of what was going to become an every day thing. There family is very religious and believe god is who got them where they are today. It was heart warming and eye opening to watch Phil overcome his struggles by having faith. I enjoyed this movie and it was a mix of emotions which is what makes the greatest movies. It showed a great man who was stuck in a sickening loop but overcame it and created a legacy for himself. It shows it can happen for anyone struggling with what he went through. It is a great motivational movie and informational about the Robertson family. I learned things I did not know about them and enjoy them as people and their show even more.
