Rory McIlroy did it again. Winning The 2026 Masters at Augusta National is a victory in itself but to do it two years in a row really takes the cake. Last year, McIlroy joined five other all-time golfers by finally accomplishing a golf Grand Slam. A Grand Slam consists of winning golf’s four major championships; PGA Championship, U.S Open, Open Championship and the Masters.
This year, McIlroy added to history by being one of four golfers in history to win the Masters back-to-back. Others on this list are none other than, infamous Tiger Woods, Nick Faldo and Jack Nicklaus.
Aside from making history, McIlroy faced a tough field of competitors. Notable golfers that trailed behind McIlroy through the four-day tournament are, Scottie Scheffler, Cameron Young, Justin Rose and Collin Morikawa.
After losing the lead after day 3, McIlroy came back on Sunday, though, cutting it close only winning by one stroke.
To add onto the list of achievements for Irish golfer, McIlroy made history. He led the field by 6 strokes after day 2. This is the largest lead after the 2nd day at Augusta National that golf has seen since the first Masters Tournament in 1934.
It is fair to say, McIlroy looks good in green. His career is not over yet; there is undoubtedly more to come for him.
