Students who attend Garden City Community College (GCCC) often find themselves in the Thomas Saffell Library. Whether that is to spend some downtime between classes or to focus on their schoolwork and upcoming exams. To the naked eye, there are countless tables and pods with computers.
A deficiency found in independent studying is the help that students may need when they are confused. Along with the lack of help, meeting with professors may be hard due to overlapping schedules or the absence of free time.
Luckily for GCCC students, the library includes the Mary Jo Williams Comprehensive Learning Center (CLC). The CLC is a reliable place on campus where students can seek resources and peer tutoring.
Peer tutoring includes one-on-one tutoring with certified tutors who have gone through training through the Tutoring Coordinator, Sara McClure. McClure, herself, along with others, offers a more advanced tutoring option for students to seek.

If interested in tutoring, students can enter the CLC and tutors will be seated, expecting students. Another option students seeking tutoring have is scheduling an appointment online.
In addition to tutoring options, here are study rooms to accommodate groups of students and individuals, depending on each student’s study preferences.
The library is also the home of many festivities. Trio and Halo both host events such as informational speakers, bake sales and plenty of other activities to help students de-stress.
The lively environment found in the library welcomes all students to boost their academic success, not only by progressing individual motivation but also by allowing students to push each other as peers and mentors.
