A couple of weeks ago, I was able to go to College for a Weekend (CFAW) at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virgina. During this time, you get to visit the school and be a student for the weekend. They do it twice a semester, and while you’re there, you can spend three days living like an LU student, exploring campus, and getting questions answered. The ones who can attend are juniors and seniors in high school; transfer students and their families are welcome to go to all four CFAW events each year. Sophomores are eligible to join CFAW for spring events only, though. If you don’t know much about LU, it is best known for being a major center for conservative, “Christ-centered” higher education, offering over 700 programs of study both online and on campus. It is a Division I school that competes as the Liberty Flames. Liberty has had a singular vision of developing Christ-centered men and women with values, knowledge and skills essential for impacting the world for Christ.

My experience there was really good, I loved it. The campus is so beautiful. I flew over there with two of my close friends. We were able to go to a basketball game and to convocation. Liberty University’s Convocation is the world’s largest gathering of Christian students. Each year, they host more than 60 nationally known speakers from a variety of fields. When I was there, we got to listen to Josiah Queen and his wife, Trinity, speak. They did a Q&A, and we also got to listen to some of their students lead worship and it was so good. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to go to Josiah Queen’s concert, which was that Friday night. But out of everything we did there, my favorite part was definitely the convocation. I love worship and the thing is that it was just a glimpse of what they do every week.
The week we left, two very well-known evangelists came to LU to speak to them at convocation. Bryce Crawford and Cliff Knechtle spoke, which I’ve seen videos that were very enlightening. They also did a 24-hour prayer, and students all around campus started praying at midnight sometime last week. It’s just so beautiful what they do as a student body together and a great atmosphere to be in. I would definitely recommend this school for anyone who is looking to grow their relationship with Christ, or even if you aren’t but you feel drawn to it. I know they have so many different scholarship opportunities but I do recommend this school and CFAW 10/10.
