This past weekend the cowboys and cowgirls were in town at the Garden City Community College Rodeo. For those who have never been to a rodeo, it is safe to say the new experience was a lot of fun. Without a doubt, going with friends enhanced the setting.
“I enjoyed the Rodeo; it was a little stinky inside the building and I was hungry. It was a cool experience, I have never seen anyone be flipped off a horse before,” Jaylen Jackson said.
On the first day, the building was packed and there was nowhere to sit or stand to see the action. Crowds even went to the extent of standing on hay bales so they could view the events. The following day, viewers made sure to get there early enough to acquire adequate seating to be able to witness all of the action.
During the two evenings, bareback riding, calf roping, bucking, saddle bronc, steer wrestling, team roping, barrel racing and bull riding were scheduled to watch. The most enjoyable events to watch were bull riding or the bareback riding. Both events had their fair share of dangers but the adrenaline rush for all attendees was exciting. All of the extra people who are involved with trying to get the riders off the broncs as safely as possible when the time is up should not be undermined.
The atmosphere was electric, filled with the sounds of cheering spectators and the scent of fresh earth. The skill and bravery of the participants were truly inspiring. Watching the riders tame the powerful bulls and horses was a thrilling experience. It was a day filled with excitement, laughter and unforgettable memories.
