Garden City Community College hosts a blood drive every year. This year, the blood drive took place on February 11th, 2026, from 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM. GCCC partnered with American Red Cross to make this event happen and it is truly for a great cause.
GCCC staff members, students and community members contributed to this wonderful turnout. Having an opportunity to donate blood allows community members to give back, be a part of someone’s journey and even save someone’s life.
Blood drives are events when people go out of their way to volunteer and donate blood which can be used to help patients in emergencies and in hospitals. Donating blood is a very important thing because it can save lives and help those needing transfusions from having surgery, accidents or illnesses.
Hospitals mainly rely on blood donations to be ready to use at any time. Even just one donation can help several different patients because blood is broken down into many different components such as plasma, red blood cells, and platelets. Not only is it good for saving lives but it can have a good look on the donor for future health screenings and overall, just feeling good for giving back to others.
Hosting blood drives and donating blood is a small but powerful gesture that can make a huge difference in someone’s life. Look for blood drives near you to give back to those in need!
